About

Art test for XR Games - environment with moving elements using no more than 15000 polys and a maximum of four 1K textures.

All assets created by me in 3DS Max, and rendered in Unreal 5, including reusing the available textures with colour modifiers for multiple different results - ie the cat's faces, and the sushi/back curtain.

There is an alternative version using a cel-shader I created, but I preferred it without - this can be seen here.

Closer Look

The Cats

Simple cat model using material IDs to give more customisation once in engine.

Three of the four available textures - applied as decals to allow multiple different configurations (see below).

The Environment

All assets created for this project.

Modular assets were created to make the assembly simpler and lighter.

Materials and blueprints

Some of the materials created for this project - I used alternative methods to achieve the wood grain and floor texture, and reused the same wave texture for the back curtain, fish scales, and conveyor belt. This was achieved by using a lerp to apply specific colours to 0/1 values in the Alpha channel, controlled by my fourth and final texture.

Some of the more complex shaders and blueprints - a cel-shader, black outline shader, and finally the movement for the conveyor belt.
